Hamas Says Ready to Hand Over Gaza Administration

Published January 28, 2026, 18:17

Hamas announced on Wednesday that it is ready to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian technocratic committee, as part of the ceasefire agreement. The handover will take place once the Rafah crossing, on the border with Egypt, is reopened with full freedom of movement. Hamas insists that the Rafah crossing must operate without Israeli obstacles. Israel has stated that it will only allow pedestrians to pass through Rafah after recovering the remains of its last hostage, Ran Gvili, which were returned on Monday.
