Hahn Resigns as EU Special Envoy for Cyprus

The EU Special Envoy for Cyprus, Johannes Hahn, has resigned from his position due to other professional commitments. The European Commission announced his resignation and thanked Mr. Hahn for his contribution to the process of resolving the Cyprus issue over the past year. Mr. Hahn has been appointed as the new Chairman of the General Council of the Austrian National Bank (OeNB) with a five-year term starting on January 1, 2026. He informed both the European Commission and the UN of his decision. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will decide on the next steps regarding the role of the EU Special Envoy for Cyprus.
