GSI and Cyprus: Concerns Regarding the Relationship Between ADMIE and Nexans

The study to update the techno-economic data for the Cyprus-Crete electricity interconnection is at a standstill. Fifteen days after the President's announcement of the upcoming assignment, no progress has been made. There is unofficial information about an attempt to directly assign the study to a firm without a competition, in order to save time. However, the possibility of conducting a reliable study with the potentially low cost associated with such an assignment is being questioned. Furthermore, questions are raised about the cooperation between the Greek and Cypriot governments in selecting the consultant, as well as ADMIE's silence and its position on the update. Nexans, which is rescheduling the project, has also not mentioned anything about the study. This delay creates doubts about the smooth progress of the project and the potential use of the study as a negotiating tool in the future.
