Greenland Reacts to Trump's Repeated Threats - "Enough is Enough"

Donald Trump has reiterated his interest in purchasing Greenland, prompting strong reactions from both Denmark and Greenland. The Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens Frederik Nielsen, responded sharply, stating that "enough is enough" with the pressures and fantasies of annexation, and that Greenland is open to dialogue, but with respect for international law. Trump argued that Greenland is important for US national security and that Denmark cannot adequately protect it. He also accused Denmark of not adequately addressing the presence of Russian and Chinese ships off Greenland's coast, which Greenland MP Aaja Chemnitz described as false and worrying. The Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, condemned Trump's statements as "unacceptable" and stressed that Greenland is not for sale. The Chinese government, for its part, urged the US to stop using the "Chinese threat" as a pretext for pursuing personal gain. Greenland, a large Arctic island with significant mineral resources, is of strategic importance. The US maintains a military base there and had many during the Cold War. The situation remains tense, with the need for dialogue and respect for international law being more urgent than ever.
