Greenland is not Venezuela, EU states

Following the abduction of Nicolás Maduro by the US, Donald Trump has brought his interest in purchasing Greenland back to the forefront, citing national security reasons. The US government is considering ways to acquire the territory, leaving open the possibility of military intervention. Greenland and Denmark have categorically rejected the proposal, with the Prime Minister of Greenland stating that “it makes absolutely no sense to talk about the need for the United States to take over Greenland.” The European Union issued a joint statement of support for Greenland, emphasizing that it belongs to its people and Denmark, and that it is not “Venezuela.” Greenland is strategically important to NATO and the EU due to its location in the Arctic, its natural resources, and the new sea routes opening up.
