Greenland: Europe Responds to Trump's Coercion - Tariffs, Countermeasures, and Frozen Agreements

European countries are preparing countermeasures in response to Donald Trump's threat to impose additional tariffs on eight European countries that are resisting his ambitions to “acquire” Greenland. The German and French Ministers of Economy announced that they are considering freezing the US-European customs agreement, imposing tariffs on American products, and restricting access to public tenders. The French Minister of Economy will convene a meeting with his G7 counterparts to discuss the issue. The European Union has assured that Greenland will never become American and has the tools to prevent the imposition of new tariffs. Europeans have described the coercion as unacceptable and warned that the situation is serious.
