Greek Government Responds to Controversy Surrounding Video Allegations

Deputy Government Spokesperson Yannis Antonious addressed the controversy surrounding a video allegedly implicating the Presidential Palace with investors and sponsorships. Mr. Antonious stated that the video contains authentic material combined with manipulated audio and images, but the existence of genuine dialogues is not disputed. He emphasized that the government aims to attract investment and that former Minister Giorgos Lakkotrypis informed Mr. Charalambous about potential investors. Regarding due diligence, Mr. Antonious mentioned existing protocols but suggested that Mr. Charalambous may have underestimated the risks, something that could have happened to anyone. Finally, he referred to the First Lady's resignation from the Independent Social Support Agency, describing it as a human need, and stressed serious suspicions about the existence of other videos and that many interests are at stake.
