Greece – Farmers' Blockades: Decisions on the Future of Protests Today

Following a meeting between the Greek Prime Minister and representatives of the farmers' blockades, there were no significant changes to the announced measures. It was agreed to hold separate discussions for technical and institutional improvements. The farmers will hold meetings at their blockades today, Tuesday, to decide on the future of the protests. Proposals for new pressure measures, such as rallies, are on the table. The farmers expressed disappointment with the outcome of the meeting, as they failed to secure further concessions from the government. They view positively the commitment to reduce production costs and the prospect of separate meetings to resolve technical issues. The farmers' demands included reducing production costs, replenishing lost income, tackling the disease of lumpy skin disease, and reviewing the Mercosur agreement. Farmers insist on the need for substantial support for the primary sector and the protection of their interests.
