The Government Spokesperson, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, referred to the invitation received by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, from US President Donald Trump for a summit in Washington on February 19th. The summit is expected to focus on the reconstruction of Gaza and the implementation of the second phase of Trump’s plan, based on UN Security Council Resolution 2803. The government is evaluating President Christodoulides’ participation in coordination with other countries and taking into account the summit’s agenda. Regarding the ‘Annie’ case, Mr. Letymbiotis stated that the matter is being investigated by the competent authorities and that there is no information about contact with the Russian Federation. He referred to yesterday's press conference of the Minister of Justice for more details. The Government Spokesperson stated that communication with the UN and the EU is positive and constructive, aiming to resume negotiations on the Cyprus issue from where they left off in Crans Montana. Cyprus has submitted a six-point proposal for the implementation of specific aspects of Trump’s plan. Finally, he expressed hope that these contacts will lead to substantive negotiations on the Cyprus issue.
