Government Interventions for Affordable Housing Focus on Four Key Areas

Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, presented the four pillars of the government's interventions to address the housing problem: increasing supply, reducing bureaucracy, strengthening investment, and supporting vulnerable groups. The government emphasizes affordable housing, which is a priority of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. Through the Urban Planning Incentive Schemes and Build to Rent, applications have been submitted for the construction of over 2,500 housing units, of which 400 will be allocated to the affordable housing market. Additionally, €12.5 million has been secured for the implementation of affordable housing programs. The Cyprus Land Development Organization is implementing 244 housing units for sale and 192 for rent at affordable prices.
