Government Denies Reports of Ballistic Missile Launches Towards Cyprus – "Our Displeasure Has Been Communicated to the United Kingdom"

The Cypriot Government has denied reports of ballistic missile launches towards Cyprus, confirming that two manned drones heading towards Akrotiri were intercepted in time. Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis clarified that the drones were not targeting Andreas Papandreou airbase, but Akrotiri, which led to security measures at Paphos airport. Mr. Letymbiotis emphasized that Cyprus was never the target, but the British Bases, and that Cyprus's displeasure has been strongly communicated to the United Kingdom. He also confirmed that Cyprus's air defense is in full operational readiness and the airspace is functioning normally. President Christodoulides is in constant communication and coordination with all partners for information exchange. The Government assured that all necessary measures are being taken to protect the airspace and ensure the safety of citizens. This denial comes in response to concerns raised by reports of a possible attack and aims to restore calm and provide accurate information to the public.
