The government announced an extensive support package for the agricultural sector, with a focus on reducing energy costs. Specifically, the GAIA tariff will be extended for two years, and the electricity price will be reduced to 8.5 cents per kilowatt-hour for farmers without debts, the lowest in the EU. Additionally, an application will be activated to reduce the excise duty on agricultural diesel through a QR code on the myDATA app. Furthermore, 160 million euros of unspent EU funds will be redistributed, with 80 million going to cotton and wheat farmers and another 80 million to livestock farmers. Changes to the ELGA regulation and the activation of new funding tools for investments complete the package of measures. The announcements were made by Kostis Hatzidakis, Kostas Tsiaras, Dimitris Papastergiou, and Thanos Petralias.
