Giorgos Papadakis Passes Away at 74 After Heart Attack

Renowned journalist and presenter Giorgos Papadakis passed away today at the age of 74, following a heart attack. He was rushed to the Laiko General Hospital unconscious, where doctors made efforts to save his life, but were unsuccessful. Papadakis was widely known for his long-standing presence on Greek television, having hosted 'Kalimera Ellada' (Good Morning Greece) for 34 years, the longest-running morning show in Greek television history. The show, with minor name changes, became a hallmark of his career. Born in Halandri in 1951 and originating from Crete, Papadakis worked various jobs before pursuing journalism to financially support his family, including construction and at a kiosk. He began his career in radio and later transitioned to television, collaborating with ANT1 and ERT. Papadakis is survived by two sons from his wife Tina Papadeli, Iasonas, a radio producer, and Phoebos, a journalist, as well as a son from a previous marriage, Konstantinos. The news of his death has sparked grief among the journalistic community and viewers.
