Gaza: Educational Materials Enter the Strip for the First Time in Two Years

The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced today that it has been able to distribute school kits and educational materials to Gaza for the first time in two years, after Israeli restrictions were lifted. These include pencils, notebooks, and toys for children. UNICEF plans to distribute an additional 2,500 kits next week. The organization emphasizes that children in Gaza face enormous difficulties in accessing education due to the destruction of schools and restrictions on the supply of materials. According to the UN, 97% of schools in Gaza have been damaged. Israel accuses Hamas of using schools and other civilian infrastructure for military purposes. UNICEF is focusing on providing assistance to the central and southern areas of Gaza, as the situation in the north remains particularly difficult. During the war, at least 71,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza health authorities, including 20,000 children. UNICEF calls for the immediate protection of children and the restoration of the education system in Gaza.
