From the Cyprus Issue to the Supermarket Basket

The article examines the gradual shift in the priorities of Cypriot voters from the Cyprus issue to economic and social concerns. While in the past the Cyprus issue dominated public debate and influenced electoral choices, citizens are now focusing on issues such as the cost of living, inflation, job insecurity, corruption, and migration. The author expresses concern that this shift may lead to fatigue and acceptance of the de facto division, as well as a loss of national consciousness and historical memory. He warns that a lack of active pursuit may lead to the consolidation of existing situations and a "Turkish solution" that would undermine the interests of Cyprus.
