From My Notebook: The Molds of Party Patriotism and Political Correctness

The article is a recollection of the author's journalistic journey in Cyprus, focusing on the internal dynamics and ideological contradictions of political parties. The author describes his initial perception of the Left, based on simple knowledge of its theorists, and how it differed with his entry into the journalistic world. He observes that the Left, facing difficulties, ended up in a form of party patriotism and political correctness, strengthening its influence. At the same time, he refers to similar trends in the Democratic Rally and DIKO, where party rules and internal disputes shaped decisions. The author emphasizes that political life in Cyprus is characterized by internal conflicts and the tendency of leaders to protect their interests, at the expense of genuine political change.
