Frederiksen: Denmark Will Do Everything for Deal - Won't Cede Greenland

Denmark intends “to do everything it can” to reach an agreement with the United States regarding Greenland, but will not cede the island, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said today. The statement comes after President Trump’s initial proposal to buy Greenland, which sparked strong reactions. Trump had threatened tariffs on European countries that opposed his plans, but ultimately withdrew the threat after talks in Davos. Frederiksen described Europe’s united stance as a success and stated that negotiations with the US are ongoing.
