Former Strovolos Mayor Alleges Smear Campaign

Former Mayor of Strovolos, Andreas Papaharalambous, has issued a statement alleging a coordinated effort to tarnish his reputation by the current Mayor of Strovolos, Mr. Stavrinidis, and the newspaper “Alithia”. The allegations concern a case involving a company facing financial difficulties and debts to the Municipality. Mr. Papaharalambous claims that the temporary lifting and reinstatement of a memo regarding the company were done to facilitate the transfer of its loans to another bank and ensure the repayment of debts, including a sum of €200,000 which was paid normally. He further assures that no priority was lost on the debts and that the process was fully transparent, with meetings and exchange of letters. He concludes by stating that his candidacy with ELAM will not be hindered and will proceed with legal action regarding the libelous statements.
