Former Cypriot President George Vassiliou Hospitalized

Former President of the Republic of Cyprus, George Vassiliou, is hospitalized in serious condition at the General Hospital of Nicosia since January 6, 2026. According to the spokesperson of the Cyprus State Health Services Organization (Okypy), Charalambos Charilaou, Mr. Vassiliou is receiving all necessary medical care. The attending physicians consider his condition serious, with no further details provided regarding the reason for his hospitalization. George Vassiliou served as President of the Republic of Cyprus from 1988 to 1993.
