Foot-and-Mouth Disease Outbreak: Strict Measures in Cyprus

Due to outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease, roads leading to livestock farms in Troulloi have been closed, resulting in the implementation of strict biosecurity measures. The Aradippou Municipality is building six tire disinfection tanks, costing around 30-35 thousand euros, to prevent the spread of the virus. There is strong concern about the potential impact on milk and meat production. One livestock farmer disputes the sampling result, requesting a second test before the culling of his animals. Similar measures have been taken in Athienou, with vehicle spraying and limited access to farms.
