Κρούσμα αφθώδους πυρετού καταγράφηκε σε μονάδα βοοειδών στην περιοχή της Πελόπης, στη βορειοανατολική Λέσβο.
Άμεσα πραγματοποιήθηκε έκτακτη σύσκεψη υπό την Αντιπεριφερειάρχη Πρωτογενούς Τομέα, Αναστασία Αντωνέλλη και από σήμερα έχουν τεθεί σε ισχύ αυστηρά μέτρα απαγόρευσης μετακινήσεων ζώων – βοοειδών, αμνοεριφίων και χοίρων – καθώς και όλων των προϊόντων τους εκτός του νησιού.
Παράλληλα, ξεκινούν άμεσα εκτεταμένοι έλεγχοι σε όλο το ζωικό κεφάλαιο της Λέσβου, το οποίο υπολογίζεται περίπου σε 150.000 ζώα. Κτηνιατρικά κλιμάκια θα πραγματοποιήσουν δειγματοληψίες και ελέγχους σε κτηνοτροφικές μονάδες σε όλο το νησί, ώστε να διαπιστωθεί αν υπάρχουν και άλλα κρούσματα.

Foot-and-Mouth Disease Case Detected in Lesvos
A case of foot-and-mouth disease has been detected in a cattle unit in the Pelopi area, northeastern Lesvos. The Deputy Regional Governor for Primary Sector immediately convened an emergency meeting and strict measures were put in place to ban the movement of animals (cattle, sheep and pigs) and their products off the island. Extensive checks have begun immediately on all livestock in Lesvos, estimated at around 150,000 animals. Veterinary teams will carry out sampling and checks in livestock farms across the island to determine the possible existence of other cases. These measures aim to limit the spread of the disease and protect the island's animal production. The situation is being closely monitored by the competent authorities.
