Fletcher Sought 'Blessing' from Ferguson Before Taking Charge at United

Darren Fletcher, Manchester United's caretaker manager, revealed that he sought the “blessing” of Sir Alex Ferguson before taking on the role, following the rejection of Ruben Amorim as the permanent manager. Fletcher, who has a close relationship with Ferguson, wanted to inform the legendary manager of his decision and obtain his approval. Ferguson reportedly agreed with Fletcher's thoughts and gave him his support. Fletcher will lead the team in today's (7/1) away game against Burnley in the Premier League, and may also be in charge for the FA Cup match against Brighton. He has previously coached the club's under-18 team and played a significant role in United's history as a player. Fletcher is the 11th manager to take charge of the team since 2013, when Ferguson, the club's most successful manager with 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League titles, retired.
