Fidan: Erdogan-Mitsotakis Meeting in February - 'We Want a Permanent Solution in the Aegean'

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that a meeting between Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Kyriakos Mitsotakis will take place in February, without specifying an exact date. Fidan stated that Turkey wants a "permanent solution" in the Aegean, covering issues such as territorial waters and the continental shelf. Fidan emphasized Turkey's opposition to any military intervention in Iran, stressing that Tehran must resolve its internal problems on its own. He warned that major instability in Iran would be difficult for the region. Referring to Syria, Fidan expressed hope for a peaceful solution, but noted that Turkey does not rule out the use of force by the Syrian government. He also mentioned that Turkey is in talks with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia for a possible defense agreement, which he described as an "Islamic NATO". Fidan stressed the need for regional cooperation and trust in order to resolve issues in the region.
