Fear and Anxiety in the UAE After Missiles from Iran – Testimony of a Greek Resident in Dubai

Hours of intense anxiety are being experienced by Greeks living and working in the United Arab Emirates, following the escalation of tensions in the Middle East and the exchange of missile attacks that caused alarm in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The Greek Embassy in the UAE has called on Greek citizens to remain in their homes or in safe places, avoiding unnecessary movements and following the instructions of local authorities, while it has been announced that the UAE airspace remains temporarily closed. The climate of fear is reflected in the testimonies of residents. Angela Pantelis, a Greek DJ who lives permanently in Dubai and works in famous clubs in the city, spoke to protothema.gr, while she also provided the visual material in which bright traces of missiles are recorded in the sky. As she describes: “It is a day of anxiety, everything happened suddenly. Suddenly videos of missiles in the UAE airspace circulated, I won't hide the fact that we were worried. We received a notification from the Greek embassy to stay at home and avoid moving.” The situation remains particularly tense, with foreign communities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi remaining on constant alert and closely monitoring developments, as international concern grows over further escalation in the region. Similar instructions have been issued by other Western embassies. The US embassy issued a warning to American citizens to remain in safe shelters, while the Australian embassy advised Australian citizens to limit their movements and stay close to their homes until further notice. British authorities announced that there are reports of missiles flying over the United Arab Emirates, calling on British nationals to remain indoors and away from windows.
