China-North Korea Train Services to Resume

Passenger train services between China and North Korea will resume on Thursday, six years after being suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. China has fully opened its borders, while North Korea is proceeding at a slower pace, having already resumed flights and rail services with Russia. Initially, services will be for Chinese citizens working or studying in North Korea, as well as North Koreans visiting relatives or working abroad. Restrictions remain in place for tourists. The resumption of services is considered a positive development, however, North Korea recently canceled an international marathon in Pyongyang without explanation.
