President of Cyprus Visits Bahrain

The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, is paying an official visit to Bahrain on January 25th and 26th, at the invitation of the King of the country. The visit is part of the government's strategy to strengthen relations with Gulf states, covering political, economic, energy, cultural, and defense sectors. Cooperation between Cyprus and Bahrain has developed steadily in recent years, culminating in the establishment of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Manama in 2023. During the visit, eight Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding will be signed in various fields, including education, tourism, military cooperation, and search and rescue. This demonstrates the willingness of both countries to translate political dialogue into concrete and measurable collaborations. Cyprus and Bahrain have already developed a Joint Action Plan to deepen their cooperation. President Christodoulides will meet with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to discuss bilateral relations, regional and international developments, the Cyprus issue, and relations between the European Union and Bahrain. He will also brief on the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU, with a focus on strengthening relations with the Middle East and Gulf states. As part of the visit, a Cyprus-Bahrain Business Forum will be held, aiming to strengthen economic and investment ties. The President will also visit Bahrain's state Sovereign Wealth Fund to discuss attracting investment. The visit also includes the inauguration ceremony of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Manama, which enhances the possibilities of institutional cooperation and diplomacy.
