Cyprus Records Largest Increase in Median Age in the EU

According to Eurostat data, Cyprus is experiencing the largest increase in median age in the European Union over the past decade. The median age in Cyprus increased by 4 years, from 37 in 2015 to 41 in 2025, alongside Slovakia. At the EU level, the median age increased by 2.1 years (from 42.8 years), with increases recorded in all countries except Germany and Malta, where a slight decrease was observed. Significant increases were also recorded in Italy, Greece, Poland, and Portugal after Cyprus and Slovakia. The median age of the population in the EU reached 44.9 years, with the median age of the native-born population being 2.1 years higher than that of the foreign-born population (45.2 versus 43.1 years).
