Eurostat: Significant Reduction in Energy Intensity in Cyprus

According to Eurostat data, Cyprus recorded a significant reduction in the energy intensity of gross value added during the period 2014-2023, reaching -23.2%. In 2023, total energy consumption in the EU decreased by 4.1% compared to 2022. Businesses and governments consumed the largest share of energy (72.3%) for productive activities, while households consumed the remaining 27.7%. Manufacturing accounted for the largest share of energy consumption (25.5%), followed by energy supply (17.9%) and transport (12.3%).
