Eurostat: Forest Growth in Cyprus Exceeds Logging

According to Eurostat data for 2023, Cyprus presents a sustainable picture in wood production, as forest growth significantly exceeded logging. Forest growth amounted to 202,320 cubic meters, while logging was limited to 10,110 cubic meters. Eurostat emphasizes that the comparison between net annual forest growth and wood removal is a key sustainability indicator, as logging should be lower than growth. At the EU level, 23 countries recorded higher growth than wood removal, with Romania, Sweden, and Poland at the top. Only Estonia recorded a decrease in available wood, as removals exceeded growth.
