Eurostat: Cyprus Fourth in EU for Ratio of Ukrainians Under Temporary Protection

According to the latest Eurostat data, Cyprus ranks fourth in the European Union in terms of the ratio of Ukrainians under temporary protection, with 24.7 people per thousand inhabitants (a total of 24,230 people). The number of Ukrainians in Cyprus decreased by 4.8% in January 2026. At the EU level, a total of 4.38 million displaced persons from Ukraine are being hosted, with Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic at the top of the list. Cyprus recorded a decrease in the number of beneficiaries of temporary protection, while the Czech Republic, Germany, and Spain recorded increases. Women and children make up the largest proportion of Ukrainians who have received temporary protection in the EU. The temporary protection scheme has been extended until March 4, 2027.
