Seven European leaders – from France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Poland, and Denmark – have issued a joint statement regarding Greenland, responding to previous comments made by Donald Trump about the potential purchase of the territory. The statement emphasizes that Denmark and Greenland are the sole authorities capable of making decisions concerning matters related to the two countries, reiterating that Greenland belongs to its people. There is no direct mention of the United States, but the importance of respecting international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter is underscored. The leaders declare that they will continue to defend the principles of the UN Charter, including sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of borders. Furthermore, they state that the Arctic region is a priority for NATO and that European allies are intensifying their action in the area. They stress that security in the Arctic must be achieved collectively, in coordination with NATO allies, including the United States. The joint statement was published on the Danish Prime Minister's Office website and posted on Twitter.
