EU Support for Denmark and Greenland Reaffirmed by Metsola

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola reiterated the European Union's firm support for Denmark and the people of Greenland, emphasizing that Greenland is not for sale and that the EU respects their national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Metsola highlighted the potential for cooperation between Europe and the United States on Arctic security, without undermining the region's stability, and stated that Europe is ready to take on greater responsibilities in defense and security, including the protection of the Arctic. Furthermore, Metsola dedicated a significant portion of her speech to condemning the violence and repression in Iran, describing the Iranian people's uprising as a cry for freedom and justice. She stressed that the Iranian people deserve to live freely, away from a regime that uses violence as a means of survival. The President of the European Parliament reaffirmed the decision to ban the entry of representatives of the Iranian regime, as a sign of condemnation of the violence, and called for the strengthening of sanctions and the designation of the Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization. In conclusion, Metsola declared the EU's solidarity with the struggling Iranian people and proposed honoring the deceased of the uprising with applause, as a symbol of support and recognition of their sacrifice.
