EU Grants for Intergenerational Projects in Cyprus and Greece

The European Commission is offering grants of €50,000 to Cyprus and Greece to fund intergenerational projects. These projects aim to enhance media literacy and foster trust between young people, adults, and the elderly in local communities. The call for proposals, titled “Building Community Across Generations Through Media Literacy,” focuses on projects in rural areas, small towns, and medium-sized cities (under 50,000 inhabitants). The projects must include meaningful joint activities on the topic of media literacy, with the participation of at least two of the three main demographic groups: children and young people (under 25), adults (25-64), and seniors (65+). The selection of projects will be based on their ability to build trust between generations, thereby addressing social challenges and polarization. Furthermore, the projects should provide guidance and tools to improve media literacy skills across all age groups, given the growing need for access to reliable information. The Commission emphasizes the importance of “trustworthy local spaces” as environments where community members feel safe and can collaborate. The deadline for submitting proposals is February 6th. The call supports one project per country with a duration of eight months. More information about eligibility and requirements is available on the websites of the European Commission's representation in Greece and Cyprus.
