EU Closely Monitoring Situation in Venezuela, Says Kalas

The European Union is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela following reports of the removal of Nicolás Maduro with US involvement. The EU High Representative, Kaja Kalas, emphasized the need to respect international law and prioritize the safety of European citizens in the country. Ms. Kalas has already spoken with Foreign Minister Marcos Rubio and the EU Ambassador to Caracas to be updated on the situation. The EU has repeatedly questioned the legitimacy of Nicolás Maduro and has supported a peaceful transition of power in Venezuela. Ms. Kalas called for restraint and stressed that the United Nations Charter and the principles of international law must be respected under all circumstances. The crisis in Venezuela has caused international concern, with the US confirming its involvement in Maduro's removal. The EU seeks to ensure the safety of European citizens in Venezuela, as well as compliance with international rules. The situation remains fluid and the EU will continue to closely monitor developments in order to protect the interests of its citizens and contribute to the restoration of democracy and stability in Venezuela.
