Escalating Tensions: Washington Allows Departures from Israel

The US will allow non-essential personnel and their families to depart from Israel for safety reasons, the American embassy in Jerusalem announced on Monday amid growing concerns about the risk of military conflict with Iran. The embassy did not provide details on the security reasons cited, which led to the “authorized departure.” This follows a previous removal of non-essential personnel from the embassy in Beirut. According to reports, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Hacabi sent an email to staff, encouraging them to leave immediately, emphasizing the priority of a quick departure. While the ambassador dismissed the existence of a reason for panic, he stressed the importance of immediate action for those wishing to depart. The US has already deployed significant military forces to the Middle East and continues negotiations with Iran on its nuclear program. Iran has threatened to strike US bases in the event of an attack, while Israel may become involved in a potential conflict. Other countries have already begun to withdraw diplomatic staff and advise their citizens to avoid travel to Iran. The situation in the region is particularly unstable and the risk of escalation remains high.
