Erhurman: Politicians Should Be 'Solution Providers' Not Part of the Problem

Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman emphasized the need for adopting a political approach that does not disconnect from society, aiming for politicians to not be part of the problem but “bearers of the solution”. This statement was made in a speech during the ceremony for the 42nd anniversary of the death of Fazil Kucuk. Erhurman stated that the duty of the current leadership is to continue an attitude that prioritizes the future of the Turkish Cypriot community. He explained that the highest debt is not only the memory of Kucuk, but also the understanding and preservation of the values he represented. Describing Fazil Kucuk, Erhurman emphasized that he was a leader who did not hide behind positions, but shared the same paths and concerns with the people. Kucuk managed to walk on “thin lines” in difficult times, defending the identity and security of Turkish Cypriots. Erhurman concluded by saying that Kucuk’s faith in the community remains a guide for the future and that the current mission is the substantive understanding of his messages.
