T/C leader Tufan Erhurman reiterated that the T/C side has submitted three proposals for the Athienou-Aglantzia road, which were however rejected by the G/C side. The proposals include the construction of a new road in the occupied territories with Turkish funding, an alternative road from the narrowest point of the buffer zone with European funding, and the payment of compensation for any G/C properties through the “Immovable Property Commission”. Mr. Erhurman stressed that President Christodoulides insists that the road must pass exclusively through the buffer zone, adding that every time excuses were exhausted, the President returned to his initial position. Mr. Erhurman characterized the recent proposals from the G/C side to discuss new crossing points as an attempt to undermine existing proposals, using the Turkish saying “spoiling what’s already cooked”. Mr. Erhurman expressed his displeasure with statements through the media, stating that he preferred to avoid public confrontation. He emphasized that the T/C side will continue to work with sincerity, patience, and determination, while also informing the international community, without engaging in a “blame game”.
