Erhiyurman: No Approval Needed from T/C Side for Greek Cypriot Unilateral Measures

T/C leader Tufan Erhiyurman stated that the approval of the T/C side is not required for any unilateral measures taken by the G/C side. This statement was made in response to reports that President Christodoulides intends to take action in the areas of health and economy to benefit the T/C community. Erhiyurman mentioned that he was informed about President Christodoulides' intentions through press reports. Regarding trade through the Green Line regulation, he said that the T/C side has already submitted proposals to abolish certain practices that hinder trade. Furthermore, Erhiyurman expressed the view that not imposing VAT on goods transferred from the free areas to the occupied territories, while VAT is imposed on goods produced in the occupied territories, is unfair. He proposed the application of the same VAT regime on both sides. Erhiyurman accused the G/C side of not taking into account the proposals of the T/C side and that the implementation of the Green Line regulation is not balanced.
