Erhiyurman: Cyprus-Greece-Israel Cooperation is an 'Anti-Turkey Axis'

Tufan Erhiyurman claims that the cooperation between the Republic of Cyprus, Greece, and Israel in the fields of defense and energy has turned into an 'anti-Turkey axis'. Commenting on President Christodoulides' New Year message, Mr. Erhiyurman argued that these actions create a climate of confrontation with Turkey instead of promoting the resolution of the Cyprus issue. He specifically mentioned the re-emergence of the Israel-Cyprus electricity interconnection project, suggesting that energy cooperation between Cyprus, Turkey, and Greece would be a stronger incentive for resolving the problem. Mr. Erhiyurman emphasized that a solution does not come through antagonism but through cooperation, and that creating a suitable climate is essential. He believes that this climate cannot be achieved by ignoring the existence of Turkish Cypriots, but by recognizing them as equal partners alongside the Greek Cypriots. He called on those who desire a solution to contribute to creating the right conditions with actions, not just words, stressing that the will for a solution must also be judged by what happens outside the negotiation table. Finally, he pledged to continue submitting proposals that contribute to creating a climate for a solution, within the framework of the Turkish Cypriot community's will.
