Emergency UN Security Council Meeting on Venezuela Following US Invasion

The UN Security Council will convene an emergency meeting today to discuss the situation in Venezuela, following the US military intervention and the abduction of Nicolas Maduro. The meeting is being held at the request of Venezuela and Colombia, with the support of China and Russia. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will brief the Council on developments. Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodriguez has appealed to the US for a “balanced relationship of respect.” Maduro is expected to appear in court in New York today, accused of “narco-terrorism” and importing cocaine into the US.
