An emergency was declared off the coast of Limassol when the Cyprus Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) activated the national plan E-D NEARXOS for the air evacuation of a patient from a commercial vessel. The incident occurred on January 7, 2026, approximately 90 nautical miles south of Limassol. A helicopter from the 460 MEB of the National Guard was mobilized, carrying a specialized nurse from the Ambulance Service of the OKYPY. The patient was transported to Paphos General Hospital at 13:50 for further medical care. The operation was successful, ensuring timely medical assistance to the patient.
