Emergency Meeting of DISY Executive for Syka Case, Annetta's Proposal Confirmed

The DISY Executive Office is holding an emergency meeting today regarding the case of MP Nikos Syka, who has been accused by his partner of assault. The party leader, Annetta Dimitriou, has already proposed removing the MP from the ballot, a proposal expected to be ratified by the relevant party bodies. Nikos Syka vehemently denies the allegations and expresses shock at the leak of the complaint, stating he is ready to present his version of events. The case has caused turmoil within DISY, with Annetta Dimitriou emphasizing that there is no tolerance for acts of violence. Simultaneously, the Justice system will investigate the matter, as the offense allegedly occurred outside of Cyprus. The police are awaiting instructions from the Legal Service regarding the investigation process, given that the offense took place abroad. Annetta Dimitriou called on Nikos Syka to voluntarily waive his parliamentary immunity to facilitate the investigation. The party is in a waiting position until the investigation is completed, however, information suggests that if the allegations are substantiated, the MP will be expelled from DISY. The Limassol Police investigators will seek guidance from the Legal Service regarding the procedure to be followed, as well as the possibility of lifting Nikos Syka's parliamentary immunity. The Police assured that the investigation will proceed regardless of where the offense was committed, as it is a criminal case.
