ELAM Displeased with Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night' Performed at THOC

ELAM has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the recent production by the Theatre Organisation of Cyprus (THOC), specifically the performance of Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night'. ELAM accuses THOC of deviating from its institutional role and promoting 'provocative ideological choices' which, it claims, offend public sentiment and impose a specific ideology with taxpayers' money. ELAM argues that the directorial choices and content of the performance do not promote culture, but instead promote the 'absurdity of the woke agenda' and cultivate division. It believes the performance causes outrage in society and raises questions about the criteria for selecting and funding such productions. ELAM demands that the THOC Board of Directors and the Deputy Ministry of Culture provide explanations for the production and take responsibility. It emphasizes that public culture must serve culture, quality and respect for society and not operate detached from it.
