El Mencho Found and Killed in Luxury Villa Before Attempting Escape

Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho,” was located and killed in an operation by federal forces in Jalisco, Mexico. His last hideout was a luxury villa in Tapalpa Country Club, an exclusive residential area. El Mencho, leader of the Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG), attempted to escape into the forest but was shot and fatally wounded. The operation and the identity of the deceased were confirmed with the publication of a photograph from a drone with a thermal camera. The villa was equipped with modern architecture, luxurious furniture, and amenities. Inside, neatly arranged clothes, medications for various ailments (migraines, insomnia, gastroesophageal reflux, fungal infections), and personal care products were found. The large quantity of medication suggests that El Mencho was facing serious health problems, such as liver disease.
