Easter Table Secured: Supermarkets Ready to Absorb Price Increases

Despite concerns, the Easter table will not be cancelled, assured Andreas Hadjiadamou, Executive Secretary of the Pan-Cypriot Supermarkets Association. The only significant increase recorded so far concerns liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), with an additional cost of €4.5 per cylinder, while there are no corresponding price increases for other basic products. Supermarkets are prepared with alternative plans and will absorb part of the pressures by reducing their profit margins, while promotional prices will be offered during Holy Week. Mr. Hadjiadamou called for responsibility and avoidance of profiteering along the supply chain, emphasizing that there are cases of unjustified increases. Product adequacy is ensured, with the possibility of imports from Cyprus, Greece and other European countries, without concerns about quality.
