Drug Bust in Larnaca: Nine Arrested, Drugs and Weapons Seized

The YKAN (Cyprus Drug and Anti-Narcotics Unit) conducted a coordinated operation in Larnaca with the participation of 27 officers, aiming to identify and arrest members of criminal groups involved in drug trafficking. During the operation, nine individuals were arrested and significant quantities of drugs were seized, specifically approximately 400 grams of cocaine and 150 grams of cannabis. Additionally, two firearms, one of which with a silencer, precision scales, ten mobile phones, and 9,605 euros were confiscated. The investigations continue by the YKAN Larnaca, with a focus on the financial aspect of the case, in order to determine the origin of the funds and the extent of the illegal activities. This operation is part of the police's efforts to combat drug trafficking and dismantle criminal organizations in the area. The seizure of weapons indicates the involvement of the arrested individuals in serious criminal activity, beyond drug trafficking. YKAN is investigating any connections of the arrested individuals with other criminal groups and the possibility of their involvement in other illegal activities. Three vehicles were also seized, which are believed to have been used for drug trafficking and other illegal activities. The police are considering the possibility of seizing the assets of the arrested individuals, in order to limit their financial activity and prevent the repetition of their criminal acts.
