Health Minister Visits Blood Center: "Difficulties in Blood Availability Occur Periodically"

The Minister of Health, Neofytos Charalambidis, visited the Blood Center in Geri and acknowledged the periodic difficulty in blood availability. The Ministry of Health is taking the issue seriously and has requested proposals from the Blood Bank to address the problem. Additionally, the Minister will meet with the Pan-Cypriot Thalassaemia Association to discuss the matter. Mr. Charalambidis emphasized that these difficulties are not constant but occur from time to time, requiring immediate action. A lack of sufficient blood supply can create problems in meeting the needs of patients and the health system. The Ministry of Health actively promotes voluntary blood donation, as it is the most reliable way to ensure an adequate supply of blood. At the same time, it is exploring ways to improve the organization and operation of Blood Centers. The Minister of Health expressed the state's gratitude to the volunteer blood donors, emphasizing their important contribution to saving lives. Without their selfless contribution, ensuring an adequate blood supply would be much more difficult.
