In Paphos, a 48-year-old lost control of his vehicle, resulting in a rollover and a fractured arm requiring hospitalization. His breathalyzer test showed 37μg% (limit 22mg%). The Police are reminding the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol, which is one of the leading causes of fatal road accidents, ranking second with a rate of 12.8% in the statistics of the last five years. Alcohol checks are carried out daily and aim to prevent accidents and protect citizens. During the past night alone, Police officers conducted over 240 alcohol tests, resulting in 14 drivers being removed from the road and reported for driving under the influence. These checks continue throughout the road network. The Nicosia and Paphos Traffic Police are continuing their investigations to determine the exact circumstances of the accidents and assign responsibility. Police urge citizens to be particularly careful and avoid driving after consuming alcohol.
