DISY Ready to Support Efforts for Cyprus Solution

The Democratic Rally (DISY) expresses its readiness to support any effort to find common ground in the Cyprus issue, according to a statement issued following the meeting of the party's President, Annita Demetriou, with the leadership of the Turkish Republican Party (CTP). Ms. Demetriou emphasized the need for an immediate resumption of negotiations without preconditions, based on the negotiating framework and from the point where they were interrupted in Crans Montana. The goal is to achieve a solution that will ensure a peaceful future of security and cooperation for both communities, with respect for the principles and values of the European Union. DISY remains committed to the goal of a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation, without guarantees and occupying troops. Measures to build confidence and suggestions for a more inclusive and transparent dialogue process were also discussed. The meeting underscored the importance of commitment to dialogue, despite any disagreements, as the only tool to resolve the Cyprus issue and achieve a sustainable and just solution for the benefit of all Cypriots.
