DIPA Raises Concerns Over DIKO Leader's Insistence on Cyprus-Greece Electricity Interconnection Commitment

DIPA has expressed concerns regarding the insistence of DIKO President Nikola Papadopoulos on the immediate commitment of the Republic of Cyprus to the Cyprus-Greece electricity interconnection project. The party acknowledges the strategic importance of the project but emphasizes the need for it to be viable and not jeopardize public finances, given the questions raised by research conducted by the Ministry of Energy. DIPA highlights the need for transparency and public interest in the project's management and expresses surprise at the strong criticism from Mr. Papadopoulos towards the Government, which, according to the party, is simply safeguarding the country's interests. Furthermore, DIPA questions whether the DIKO Vice-President and new Minister of Energy, Michalis Damianou, is fully aligned with the Government's positions or serves party purposes. Finally, it calls on the Government to continue making decisions based on sustainability, transparency, and the public interest.
